Daniel Eaton

Daniel is an Associate Lecturer in Counselling at the University of the Sunshine Coast, where he teaches across foundational and applied counselling subjects with a focus on developing students’ practical skills, professional identity, and ethical practice. His teaching is informed by a strengths‑based, person‑centred philosophy and a commitment to creating safe, inclusive, and reflective learning environments.

Daniel’s professional background spans counselling practice, mental health support, and community engagement. He has worked extensively with young people and adults in education and community settings, supporting clients through challenges related to wellbeing, identity, life transitions, and interpersonal relationships. His clinical approach integrates humanistic and contemporary therapeutic frameworks, with particular interest in narrative, solution‑focused, and experiential modalities.

His current academic interests include counsellor skill development, reflective practice, the student learning experience, and the role of empathy and presence in therapeutic training. Daniel is passionate about helping emerging counsellors cultivate confidence, self‑awareness, and professional competence through experiential learning and supervision.

He is currently further developing his scholarship in counselling education and exploring opportunities for collaborative research in practitioner development, mental health pedagogy, and the integration of counselling skills in interdisciplinary contexts.
