Health, safety, security and environment (HSSE) agendas in community-based reforestation for carbon

Primary goals
  • To identify key health and safety risks for community-based reforestation projects in the tropics and effective mitigation
measures to protect people and the environment. We aim to improve safety and efficiency of other community-based projects globally by sharing our experiences designing, implementing and iteratively revising HSSE agendas.
Key outcomes
  1. An adaptable framework for developing HSSE agendas and trainings for community-based reforestation
  2. Recommendations to guide further research and action on HSSE in community-based initiatives
  3. Analysis of incident reports from the first three years of a reforestation project undertaken by communities in the Philippines
