Studying engineering online doesn’t mean missing out on the hands-on experiences that matter.
UniSC’s Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) combines flexible online learning with immersive on-campus practical intensives, giving you the freedom to study from wherever you are while building the technical skills employers value.
If you’re wondering how online delivery works, what support is available or whether the program is right for you, these FAQs answer some of the most common questions from future students.
When and where will the intensive blocks be?
In 2027, the intensive blocks will be held at UniSC Moreton Bay during the mid-trimester break for both Trimester 1 and Trimester 2. During this time, you’ll undertake a range of supervised practical tasks using our state-of-the-art engineering laboratories. For more information about trimester breaks and timetabling, visit the Calendars, timetables and key dates page.
Is the online degree as credible as studying on campus?
Yes. UniSC’s engineering program content is the same for both online and on-campus students and is currently seeking provisional accreditation from Engineers Australia.
What are my employment outcomes?
Our online program is a fully recognised qualification, and our engineering graduates have a 100% employment rate.
How big are UniSC classes?
UniSC is known for small class sizes and personal attention. You’ll have access to modern engineering facilities during intensives and a tight-knit cohort. We’re rated 5 stars for teaching quality and ranked Queensland’s No. 1 public university for student support, learning resources and skills development (Good Universities Guide 2026).
Can I do placement closer to home?
Yes. The program is designed with regional students in mind. We also have strong local industry partnerships, which help support work-based placements and employment close to home.
Can I change my major?
Yes. All of UniSC’s Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) majors share a common first year, meaning that if your career direction or needs shift within this period, you can change your major and still complete your degree within four years (full-time equivalent).
