This course will expose you to the specialist field of pharmacology, with a strong emphasis on the underlying biochemical principles of drug action. The course discusses the biochemical basis of drug-receptor interactions and pharmacokinetics, as well as to outline precision medicine and its growing role in the development of new cancer drugs. This course will also discuss the different classes of drugs used as anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-protozoal agents. Hypoglycaemic drugs, immunomodulatory drugs, anxiolytic agents, anti-psychotic drugs and anti-depressant drugs are also discussed.
