Updating or changing your UniSC password

All students and staff are required to update their UniSC password periodically - 180 days for students and 90 days for staff.

When it's time to update your password, you'll be prompted to do so when you log in to your UniSC account via a web browser (eg. Webmail or Canvas) or when logging in to a UniSC device.

If you need to change your password, there are two ways to do it

To use this service:

  1. Go to the Self-service forgot/reset password page
  2. Enter your UniSC email in the text box.
  3. Enter the letters/numbers from the security image into the text box.
  4. Select your preferred contact method for verification:

    - Students have the option to receive a text or phone call (if phone number is registered in USC Central) or accept a prompt via Microsoft Authenticator mobile app
    - Staff will need to approve the authentication via Microsoft Authenticator mobile app
    - Staff and students with prior approval, can use a token for authentication

  5. Approve the MFA notification or enter the code sent to you.
  6. Enter and confirm your new password.
Please make sure you are following the password requirements listed below.

You can also access the UniSC Password Reset page by clicking on the ‘Change your password’ link on USC Central, USC Staff or Canvas sign-in page.

For further instruction, please see the quick start guide.

If you know you current password and are on a UniSC computer (eg. workstation, computer lab, library commons), you can change your password by following the instructions below.

  1. Log on to the computer using your UniSC email
  2. Press Ctrl-Alt-Del keys on your keyboard at the same time
  3. Select Change Password
  4. You will be prompted to authenticate via the Microsoft Authenticator mobile app.

This is only available for students who have a phone number registered in USC Central, or staff that have a token as an approved method.

  5. Enter a new password and then confirm it by typing it in the second text box.
